We’re starting work on building a shared vision for the region’s public transportation network and how that network will function and expand over the next 30 years.
By finding ways to connect housing and jobs with public transportation, this effort – the first of its kind in Maine – will position the region to access more federal dollars for improving and expanding transit.
PACTS started this work two weeks ago when it convened the Public Transportation Plan Advisory Committee, which will provide input and champion the effort through the 18-month planning process.
The committee’s members include the leaders of seven transit agencies, seven municipalities and 11 stakeholder groups representing social services, housing, transit riders, and the development community.
Other PACTS committees will participate as stakeholders and topic experts, and the PACTS Policy Committee will adopt the final plan.
